Correos to launch parcel lockers, boosts Spanish ecommerce

Correos, a Spain-based national post service, has revealed plans to launch a trial testing pick-up lockers for parcels in order to increase delivery convenience for consumers.

The pilot will initially start with 500 lockers in the Madrid area and later be expanded. The new service is especially directed at online customers and the new parcel terminals are dubbed Homepaq.

The automated lockers will be available in a range of different sizes in order to be suitable for different kinds of parcels. Lockers can be accessed by barcodes received by email or on smartphones.
