GlobalSign joins the Certificate Authority Security Council to upgrade internet security

As part of the association, GlobalSign will work with its peers to upgrade the understanding of critical security policies and their potential impact on the internet infrastructure.

CASC creates a forum for certificate authorities (CAs), which are responsible for the majority of all digital certificates issued, to discuss and develop industry standards and to present a single unified voice in the promotion of SSL and secure transactions and communications over the internet. It also provides the public with a single resource to direct inquiries to and to contact for information and education. Members of the CASC include Comodo, DigiCert, Entrust Certificate Services, GlobalSign, Go Daddy, Symantec and Trend Micro.

In addition to supporting the CASC, GlobalSign is a member of other industry associations dedicated to advancing the strength of internet security technologies such as SSL, including The Certification Authority/Browser (CA/B) Forum and the Anti-Phishing Working Group. GlobalSign is also an adopter member of the Trusted Computing Group.

In October 2012, European internet services company Netcraft has entered a partnership with GlobalSign to enable the latter to offer its SSL Certificate customers with alerts that warn them when their websites become compromised and are used to support phishing attacks.
