Facebook acquires PrivateCore for online security solution

Monday 11 August 2014 13:11 CET | News

Facebook has acquired PrivateCore, a security startup company that focuses on securing remote servers, to protect users from malware and other security threats.

PrivateCore’s vCage technology protects servers from malware, unauthorized physical access, and malicious hardware devices, enabling customers to run applications in outsourced, hosted or cloud environments.

The news comes in the wake of what security researchers have called one of the biggest security breaches in the history of the internet, where a group of Russian hackers reportedly stole more than 1.2 billion passwords.
