Another facial recognition suit filed against Facebook

Wednesday 20 May 2015 00:22 CET | News

A US social media user has become the second person to file a lawsuit against Facebook over biometric data in 2015.

The plaintiff claimed that Facebook’s tag feature is in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and that the social media giant has not obtained written consent for this data, or failed to inform their users how long this particular information would be stored or used.

Facebook has introduced their tag suggestion feature in 2010, which link to a user’s profile through images with a tag.
