Fold makes Bitcoin payments available to Amazon, Target, and more

Monday 15 July 2019 11:02 CET | News

US-based startup Fold has made Bitcoin Lightning Network payments possible at retailers such as Amazon, Starbucks, Home Depot, Target, and Whole Foods.

It follows in the footsteps of fellow venture Moon, which earlier in 2019 announced that any Lightning Network-enabled wallet could be used via its Chrome browser extension. Prior to this, a small group of beta clients used Moon to spend crypto on ecommerce sites, by connecting the browser extension to exchange accounts including Coinbase.

Moreover, the extension will pop up a QR code and it will have the Lightning invoice, which could be copied and pasted if the QR code cannot be used for some reason. Also, one will be able to pay with one’s favourite Lightning wallet. As a bonus, one can get 5% off during Prime Day when using Moon at Amazon.com.
