Facebook sued by virtual currency provider

Monday 26 January 2015 09:21 CET | News

Virtual-currency service provider Social Ranger has filed a lawsuit against social network Facebook in December 2014.

Social Ranger claims in its complaint that Facebook allegedly invited game developers to its social-network platform in order to attract subscribers. Facebook then launched its own virtual currency and service provider, Facebook Credits, and eventually made game developers use it instead of the variety of virtual currencies and service providers.

This move by Facebook allegedly monopolized the virtual-currency service provider market, even though Facebook has abandoned its own virtual currency since then.
