Blockchain raises USD 30 million in funding round

Blockchain, a Bitcoin wallet provider and software developer, has closed a nearly USD 30.5 million fund-raising round, business-standard.com reports.

It has been led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Wicklow Capital.

Peter Smith, the president of Blockchain, states that the company plans to use its new financing round to expand and to invest in developing markets.

Blockchain has 2.3 million consumer wallets and has recently developed a search engine that allows users to verify transactions in the currencys public ledger, known as the Bitcoin blockchain. Most of the companys revenue comes from advertising.
