Sierra Wireless to Deliver Wireless Network Cards to the South African Market

Sierra Wireless and Leaf Wireless Ltd. have announced an agreement to distribute the Sierra Wireless AirCard(R) 775 EDGE wireless wide area network card and the AirCard 750 GPRS/GSM wireless wide area network card through Leaf Wireless in South Africa and surrounding regions.

The products are expected to be commercially available in the region in the coming weeks. AirCard wireless network cards allow mobile professionals worldwide to reliably connect to the information they need to work effectively from wherever they might be, said Derek Evans, Sierra Wireless Vice President and Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. AirCard 775 About the size of a credit card, the Sierra Wireless AirCard 775, a quad-band, multi-slot Class 12 EDGE PC Card, is the newest addition to Sierra Wireless award-winning AirCard line of wireless network cards. Ideal for mobile professionals who are heavy data users, the AirCard 775 allows users to transfer data at speeds averaging between 100 and 130 kbps (kilobits per second), with bursts up to 200 kbps. The quad-band operation (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) also enables worldwide roaming on EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks. AirCard 750 The Sierra Wireless AirCard 750 is a tri-band wireless network card operating on GSM/GPRS networks. It enables mobile customers using a notebook computer or handheld device to wirelessly connect to the Internet, email, and corporate applications with LAN-like connectivity when away from the office. The GPRS multi-slot Class 12 capabilities provide the highest GPRS throughput on the market today and superior power management minimizes power consumption. A true Type II PC Card, the AirCard 750 integrates into the Windows notebook or handheld device and supports Windows 95 (OSR 2 and higher), 98, NT 4.0, 2000, Me, XP, PPC 2000, PPC 2002 and HPC2000.
