Mastercard has launched a biometric payment card in Asia.

The biometric card was launched with IDEMIA and allows users to authenticate during contactless transactions with their fingerprint.

According to findbiometrics.com, the card was launched after IDEMIA’s announcement that it had attained an ICCN security certificate for its biometric card solution’s secure chip.

Mastercard also unveiled Pay by Account, which allows cardholders to use funds from any linked account, at any location that accepts Mastercard, using the newly released card. Furthermore, the company also informed that they obtained a patent for Social Commerce QR, which embeds a QR code to its cards to aid in instances such as bill splitting, money transfers, and merchant payment.
