Inside Unveils New Contactless PLUG&PLAY Module

The HandIT-2G has been designed to operate with any laptops and PDAs running with Microsoft Windows 98/XP/Me/Pocket PC 2002/2003. The new module is compatible with CF card slot types I and II enabling communication with INSIDE’s contactless chips: PicoPass and PicoTag as well as other contactless chips. In addition to those features, the HandIT-2G is able to communicate with all INSIDE couplers, as well as other RF readers. In a reader-to-reader mode, also known as Near Field Communication (NFC), the Hand’IT-2G acts as a transponder, enabling the transfer of stored data to any other PDA or laptop through an RF interface. There is no need to download additional drivers to operate a PDA as a secure contactless reader. The HandIT-2G is compliant with the ISO 14443A/B and 15963 standards and can therefore communicate with the appropriate chips in addition to FeliCas. The HandIT 2G provides state-of-the-art security, including secret key management and cryptographic calculations that enable secure authentication and communication with a contactless transponder. A slot for a SAM module (SIM format) is integrated in the coupler to support the external security management. The HandIT-2G has been designed to be used in smart card and RFID environments such as Passport and visa verification, transport ticket verification, data collection, RFID tags reading/writing, counterfeiting protection and prepaid applications. Further, INSIDE comes to CTST 2004 with a product offer for evolving North American markets such as Payment, Access Control and Identity. Together with its strategic partners, INSIDE delivers Best In Class products for any applications in those markets.
