EMV APPROVAL AND PRODUCT LAUNCH GP Net is one of the largest financial transaction acquiring networks in Japan and one of the pioneers in the promotion and support of the migration to chip in the Japanese market. GPNet provides services to more than 70 acquirers and to more than 120,000 merchants. Sumitomo Mitsui Credit Card Co., one of GP Net’s key potential customer, has expressed willingness to deploy the Ingenico Elite 730 terminal on the Japanese market. Given the installed base of over 1 million EFT POS and over 2 million cash registers with embedded card reading facilities, this is a major step forward the world’s second market. EMV cards are being issued today and Japan is expected to quicken the deployment of EMV Credit terminals both as replacement for existing terminals as well as to grow the installed base. In Japan, Ingenico has been present since 1999 and has gained the knowledge to serve this market. This approval should ensure Ingenico substantial progress in Japan as of 2004. PARTNERSHIP WITH OMRON FIELD ENGINEERING In order to give support to its customer base in Japan, Ingenico has signed a service agreement with Omron Field Engineering of Japan, the service division of OMRON, a very large and diversified Japanese firm, present in the payment industry. Ingenico has selected OFE given their knowledge of the EFT POS terminal industry and as a recognized dedicated service company currently maintaining a large volume of deployed terminals. This experience gives Ingenico customers all guarantees of quality customer service and will enable Ingenico to focus on the development and promotion of the terminals to a range of major credit card organizations. Todays results are contributed to the long term efforts and investments undertaken by Ingenico over the last few years in the Japanese market. Ingenico is now fully positioned to assert its leadership in Japan, as it has achieved throughout the world.
