One of the UKs leading financial organisations, Abbey National, has completed rigorous testing for its Chip and PIN roll out programme for all their debit customer base and cahoot debit and credit card base. The EMV test tools used in this extensive process were selected from leading smart card software solutions provider and business IT consultancy, Aconite. Abbey deployed Aconites comprehensive suite of EMV test tools - EMV Facilitator and End System Simulator - in key development and certification areas in advance of the 2005 EMV compliance deadline. Abbey chose Aconite for its innovative and dynamic EMV software applications and experience in this sector. Aconites EMV toolkit comprises EMV Facilitator and End System Simulator. EMV Facilitator is a comprehensive tool suite for EMV testing and operations support, capable of delivering fast and effective problem diagnosis and data interpretation in both test and production environment. The Aconite End System Simulator in turn provides emulation of any entity in the transaction processing chain. It is a versatile testing utility allowing soft programming of smart card commands and network messages for all levels of testing, from proof of concept through to pre-integration and regression testing. EMV Facilitator EMV Facilitator breaks down EMV messages, extracting and interpreting the complex data structures into plain English. EMV Facilitator can predict or verify the outcome of EMV transactions at terminals and performs EMV cryptography to generate or validate cryptograms, supporting the key derivation techniques of all EMV cards in use. EMV Facilitator also allows EMV cards to be interrogated to display internal card settings, aiding test checking and problem diagnosis with live cards. EMV Facilitator saves time in test cycle turnaround. One customer reports a 75% reduction in time taken to check test results compared to manual methods. End System Simulator End System Simulator is a script-driven utility that can simulate any entity in the end-to-end transaction chain, supporting any message protocol. End System Simulator can interact with real smart cards allowing actual response data to be incorporated into messages, after manipulation if required ? to introduce errors, for example.
