The new Dione Xtreme Integrated terminal, which forms part of this solution, is part of MasterCards M-TIP programme which is focused on the installation of new terminals throughout the world over the next two years. India, where the use of payment cards is increasing fast, is the first market for Dione and NCR who will offer their solution to the banks and third-party processors. MasterCard members are expected to issue over 5 million new Maestro debit cards in India during 2003 adding to nearly 500 million already issued around the world. Maestro cards can be used at retailers or ATMs allowing funds to be debited straight from the holder?s savings or current account. The Dione/NCR solution is a total package that can be replicated from country to country; this offers best in class terminal and applications technology with minimal investment by acquirers, low cost of ownership plus full service and merchant support. More importantly the platform has been designed to enable swift deployment wherever MasterCard requires rapid acceptance growth. Diones entire Xtreme terminal range has been developed and proven in the UK retail market and has recently been released for worldwide distribution. The Xtreme Integrated, chosen by Mastercard is a new compact countertop EMV level 1 and 2 (EFTPoS) payment terminal, that allows either the cardholder or the cashier to insert the card. It can read magstripe and chip cards and is fully PIN enabled.
