Dell Offers Axalto Smart Card Security for Corporate Client Computers

Dell is addressing the need to easily and securely control user authentication and access to an organizations computers with smart card security solutions now available on Dell Latitude notebooks, OptiPlex desktop systems and Dell Precision workstations.Smart card-based security products are designed to ensure that only authorized users can access a computer or network within an organization. Benefits of smart card- based solutions over other "embedded" security products include: - Strong two-factor user authentication (something user has: smart card, plus something user knows: password) - Portability of credentials (user can log on to multiple devices) - Upgradeability and scalability (can be upgraded as security needs change, and deployed across variety of client computers) - Native operating system support Customers can configure Dell systems at time of purchase with a cost-effective smart card package that includes the software required, OtaniumSuite?, and two Axalto smart cards. Several Latitude notebook computers feature an integrated smart card reader, while Dell Precision and OptiPlex computers can be configured with external keyboards with integrated smart card readers. The software application, developed by 360 Degree Web, has two levels of user security: OtaniumSuite Pro, $49.00, provides secure logon capability plus file/folder encryption; and OtaniumSuite PKI, $69.00, provides secure communications via encrypted e-mail and proof of signatures via digital signature, in addition to secure logon and file protection. Both solutions come with Cyberflex Access smart cards by Axalto, a Schlumberger Company.
