Tuesday 3 March 2009 00:57 CET | News

US food and support services company Compass North America has partnered with MasterCard Worldwide to accept payments via MasterCard PayPass contactless cards at selected cafeterias across the US.

Following the deal, Compass customers will be able to pay for meals by tapping their PayPass cards on contactless terminals installed at check-out lanes. Throughout 2009, the Compas Group is due to deploy PayPass-accepting Vivotech 4500M contactless readers at check-out lanes across its foodservice locations. On top of the MasterCard PayPass contactless cards, Compass Group accepts traditional magnetic-stripe payment card brands.

As of Q4, there are over 50 million PayPass cards and devices in use at over 141,000 merchant locations worldwide, including BP, Best Buy, 7-Eleven, CVS, McDonalds and Petco, among others.
