US-based online payments gateway service provider PayPal has announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is available for Venmo business profiles and PayPal Zettle users in the US.

PayPal’s development strategy

Considering that consumers are increasingly using less cash, with more than 40% of US residents surveyed stating that none of their purchases are made with cash in a typical week, accepting card and digital wallet payments in person represents a necessity for small businesses. Until recently, businesses were required to purchase and manage card readers to accept these kinds of payments. However, with the introduction of Tap-to-Pay on iPhone, PayPal aims to help small businesses adapt to this shift in consumer behaviour in a convenient, efficient, and more affordable manner.

According to PayPal’s officials, as consumers shift towards non-cash options for paying for everyday expenses, small businesses need affordable and flexible ways to provide their users with more payment choices without being tied down to a fixed location. By launching Tap-to-Pay on iPhone, the company intends to enable small businesses that use Venmo and PayPal Zettle to start accepting contactless card and digital wallet payments on their iPhones. This can expand their customer base while driving sales. By leveraging Tap-to-Pay on iPhone, Venmo business profile and PayPal Zettle users located in the US can set up and begin securely accepting contactless cards and digital wallets. Additionally, business owners can also include taxes, accept tips, send receipts, and issue refunds. Also, funds from sales are set to settle fast into a business’ Venmo or PayPal Zettle account, supporting the simplification of operations and cash flow management.

Furthermore, Tap-to-Pay on iPhone is also set to enable Venmo business profile users to expand their customer base and accept payments from buyers even if the latter does not have a Venmo account. Users can manage both their Venmo and card payment transactions directly within the Venmo app. The press release also underlines that small business owners can set up in a few simple steps and start accepting contactless cards and digital wallets through Venmo business profile or via PayPal Zettle. Venmo business profile and PayPal Zettle users operating in the US underscored that enabling Tap-to-Pay on iPhone allowed them to improve the customer experience, while also increasing their business efficiency and expanding their user base.
