S2 Systems Uses CocoBase Enterprise O/R to DriveOpeN/2 Support for Any Leading Relational Database

S2 Systems web interface for their OpeN/2 system, is using THOUGHT CocoBase Enterprise O/R, to manage the flow of data to and from the database. CocoBase easily allows OpeN/2 to work with many different databases while requiring no change to the application, a key advantage for any database-neutral product. The flexibility of CocoBase, the low cost of the system and the short time frame required to complete the application were key factors in S2 Systems successful use of CocoBase. CocoBase Enterprise O/R is a vendor neutral Dynamic Object to Relational Mapping layer that sits on top of the JDBC driver between the application objects (often running in an application server) and the database (which is usually a relational database for most modern IT organizations). CocoBase manages the persistence and retrieval of data from the application to where it is stored in the relational database. CocoBase takes the database specific code and prewritten SQL out of the object and saves this information to the mapping layer (i.e. map), thus decoupling the object from being hard coded to the database. The database specific code and SQL is dynamically created at runtime. This allows objects to be easily reused over and over. This dynamic layer provides a multitude of performance and scaling optimizations that are easily changed by the programmer to best fit their specific needs.
