First Data Names New Card Issuing Services President

First Data has announced that James L. Schoedinger, 45, a twenty-four-year veteran of the financial services industry, has been named president of the companys Card Issuing Services business unit. In this role, Schoedinger will oversee the Card Issuing Services business unit in Omaha, reporting directly to Charlie Fote, chairman and chief executive officer, First Data. Schoedinger also will serve as a member of First Datas Executive Committee. Schoedinger most recently served as president of Transamerica Real Estate Information Services, one of Transamerica Corporations largest business units, where he led a turnaround of the business using Six Sigma quality initiatives to drive out costs while increasing the quality of service. He also led the companys commercial and consumer finance business, which included a variety of financial products, such as vendor leasing and private label consumer credit cards. Before joining Transamerica Corporation, Schoedinger spent sixteen years at GE Capital, where he held full profit and loss responsibility for three GE Capital businesses: Private Label Credit Cards, Personal Lending and the start-up of GEs Visa/Mastercard business.
