Comdata Launches Merchant Bank Card Processing Capability with Acquisition of Tranvia

Comdata Corporation, a leading provider of electronic payment transactions, announced its capability to provide full-service payment processing for merchants with the closing of its acquisition of Tranvia, Inc., a merchant processor for credit, debit, pre-paid and e-commerce activities.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Tranvia will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Comdata. Tranvia currently serves a range of merchants nationally and is also a direct provider of processing services to financial institutions, independent sales organizations, and providers of stored value payment products for educational institutions. With Tranvia, merchants can better manage their payment acceptance needs--with easy-to-use online reporting, value-added merchant services, and superior customer support. The comprehensive platform also offers broadband processing capabilities for high-speed transactions. Tranvia is based in Rock Island, Ill., and has offices in New York, Philadelphia and Hanover, N.H.
