Bank of America names Christiane Mandell head of Global Foreign Exchange

Bank of America has named Christiane Mandell as the head of the companys Global Foreign Exchange group. Mandell, who is based in New York, has assumed her new position effective immediately. She will maintain this role in the combined company following Bank of Americas merger with FleetBoston Financial.As head of Global Foreign Exchange, Mandell will have responsibility for growing this line of business, which has foreign-exchange employees based in a worldwide network of 14 sales, trading and research centers in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Bank of America is a leading participant in the worlds currency markets, conducting 24-hour foreign exchange trading in nearly 90 major, minor and exotic currencies. Mandell, a veteran Bank of America employee, will be reporting to Moulds in her new role as head of Global Foreign Exchange. Previously, she was head of investor client management for equities and debt, and head of institutional sales for the banks debt platform. Mandell joined Bank of America in 1989 as a foreign exchange adviser. Prior to her most recent position overseeing institutional sales, Mandell held a variety of other leadership roles at the bank, including head of Global Foreign Exchange Sales and Research, and head of e-Commerce for the banks Global Corporate and Investment Banking group. Before joining Bank of America, Mandell spent six years at Barclays Bank, PLC as an international economist, financial markets adviser and manager of a team of consultants for foreign exchange risk management. A native of Kentucky, she holds a BA in international relations from the University of Cincinnati and an MSc in political economics from the London School of Economics. She has been active in a number of financial markets associations, including the Emerging Markets Trading Association, Association Cambiste Internationale and the Association of Financial Professionals.
