Xsolla, a global virtual currency reseller, has entered a partnership with US-based start-up Openbucks to integrate the latter’s Gift Card Payment Network in order to provide a new payment option to North American gamers.

The partnership will allow gamers in the United States and Canada to access Xsolla’s PayStation to carry out payments via the gift cards of retail brands (such as Subway, Burger King, Circle K, CITGO, and CVS/Pharmacy).

The partnership with Xsolla is set to provide gamers with an increased selection of online games to apply their gift cards balances towards. Conversely, gamers who are already playing games with Xsolla’s PayStation integrated will be able to access the Openbucks Gift Card Payment Network as a new payment option, allowing them to carry out online payments.

In recent news, Openbucks has secured USD 4.8 million in Series A funding round led by Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang. Openbucks allows consumers to use gift cards from retail brands to pay for online games and goods purchased via e-commerce websites.

Xsolla focuses on online games, providing localized in-game payment services for global reach. The company has partnered with over 200 payment service providers offering credit and pre-paid cards, mobile payments, premium SMS, e-wallets, cash and e-cash and payment kiosks.
