Following this announcement, customers based in Japan will be enabled to get a JPY 2000 discount in the first three months after the card’s launch, only if they purchased more than JPY 100,000. The product was designed for overseas uses and it was made available for customers aged 12 or above. Its contactless-equipped card is set to give users the possibility to load multiple currencies for leverage at any Mastercard-affiliated restaurant, shop, or market in several regions around the globe.
The card will not be linked to any bank account, in order to minimise the use of unauthorised access. It also does not require My Number verification documents processes, which gives customers the capability to purchase the card in a quick and efficient manner, including the day of the departure.
Furthermore, the Travelex Money Card currently supports eight foreign currencies besides JPY, including USD, EUR, and AUD. In this way, clients will have the possibility to load their cards with JPY or other supported currency in order to convert the funds to the local currency when making a payment or transaction while traveling abroad.
The card is already available for customers in Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. Clients can purchase the Travelex Money Card both in-store and pre-order it online. Users have the option to manage the card’s option on the Travelex Mobile App, where they can also add currencies, check their overall balance, view their transaction history, as well as pause usage in case they lost the card or it was stolen. Travelex’s strategy of development
UK-based foreign exchange company Travelex had multiple partnerships and product launches in the last couple of months, covering different regions across the globe.
In July 2023, the company released an automated, self-serve currency kiosk in the UK Heathrow airport. The kiosk was aimed to give users the opportunity to place their order at a touch screen kiosk in order to collect their cash from a designated ATM machine. The process was designed to be fully automated and secure, with no human interaction being required.
Earlier in May 2023, the foreign exchange firm announced the launch of new stores and partnerships across the region of Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Brazil. Following the news, Travelex aimed to provide its suite of services and products to clients and customers based in those geographical areas, as international aviation continued to rebound around the post-pandemic world.
According to the press release published at the time, Travelex launched more than 20 stores across the continents.
