Pine Labs launches contactless payments app

Thursday 28 January 2021 14:29 CET | News

India-based merchant commerce startup Pine Labs has launched the AllTap contactless payments app, allowing merchants to accept debit and credit card payments without having to use swipe machines.

The AllTap app will enable shopkeepers to accept all forms of digital transactions directly through an Android phone enabled with NFC technology.

A contactless card uses a chip-based technology to complete transactions through a secure radio interface. The NFC-based smartphone with Pine Lab's AllTap app has reverse engineered the same process to turn it into acceptance devices.

The transactions done via AllTap, unlike traditional swipe transactions, would not require a customer to complete a two-factor authentication process involving a secure pin or one time password to make payments.
