Switzerland-based payments company Netcetera has joined Mastercard’s Digital First solutions as a partner in the Mastercard Engage programme.

A global partner network, Mastercard’s Engage gives customers the opportunity to deploy Mastercard Digital First solutions by enabling access to a network of qualified technology and fintech partners. Alongside Netcetera’s secure payment products, these solutions help customers benefit from a fully digital payment experience.

The Mastercard Engage Digital First partnership follows the increase in demand for digital experiences. With Netcetera having a digital-first strategy when it comes to customer journeys, this partnership aims to accelerate digital transformation in payment and banking, the company’s secure payment solutions allowing its customers to provide entirely digital experiences to their consumers.

Mastercard’s network of qualified partners is driven by the consumer’s inclination toward digital payments, and it allows its customers to have a speedy launch of digital products.

Netcetera and Mastercard past cooperations

In August 2020, Netcetera partnered up with Mastercard and launched a 3DS PSD2 testing platform for retailers. This partnership followed the merchants’ need to become prepared for EMV(R) 3DS 2.x requirements and the Mastercard Identity Check programme.

With the test programme running on Netcetera’s 3DS Access Control Server (ACS), merchants could test transactions in the live system using test cards from Mastercard to detect if their 3DS implementation is compliant with the EMV and Mastercard requirements. With 19 test cases ranging from frictionless flows to exemptions from SCA, merchants can discover the reason behind errors and eliminate them where possible, while helping improve the approved transaction rate.

In July 2021, they also announced the launching of a 3DS testing platform for issuers.

Recent Mastercard Engage Programme updates

In July 2022, Mastercard announced they would expand Engage’s partner network offering to technology partners with a focus on building and deploying Open Banking solutions, for both payments and lending services.

This new programme allows providers like Dwolla, FinTech Automation etc. to partner with Mastercard Open Banking and offer services to their clients, amongst other benefits like fewer contracts, faster access to customers, and data security and access.

Netcetera’s 3DS solution

Netcetera’s 3DS solution enables the authentication and verification of users’ identities. 3D Secure (3DS/ 3 Domain Server), is a technical standard aimed at securing online card transactions that have 3 parties involved:  Acquirer, Issue & Interoperability Domain. The cardholder must provide proof of identity to complete an online purchase by either entering a unique password, an SMS code, or a temporary PIN. This helps simplify online payments and prevents card fraud.
