Millennius accepts Bitcoin, Litecoin payments

Millennius, an Australian online consumer electronics retailer, has started to accept Bitcoin as a payment method.

According to Millennius Founder Pierre Boutros, cited by online media outlet BankCreditNews, Bitcoins will allow Millennius consumers to make online purchases in Australia and across the globe.

All products available on the Millennius website can be purchased using Bitcoins. Customers are still able to make purchases using credit cards and bank transfer payments.

The company has mentioned it believes it will be the first online retailer globally to accept Litecoin payment through its website. Litecoin is a peer-to-peer internet currency that enables instant payments to anyone in the world. It is based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs from Bitcoin in that it can be mined with consumer-grade hardware. The Litecoin network is scheduled to produce 84 million currency units.

Bitcoin is a descentralized digital currency and payment network and is controlled by cryptography rather than by any corporation or central bank. Created as an open-source software project, Bitcoin enables users to transfer funds instantly to any other Bitcoin account holder in the world.
