According to the research conducted for MasterCard by international data communications company Transaction Network Services (TNS), in the first half of 2010, 67 percent of Israeli credit card holders have used their cards to make online purchases. The survey also found that most Israeli cardholders find the internet a convenient media for using credit cards and that they thought that their level of use online will rise in the coming years.

Moreover, 38 percent of respondents claimed that the option of using a credit card in online transactions was the biggest advantage of paying by credit card whereas 24 percent of participants who use their cards online said that their credit card purchases had increased over the past year.

The research has also revealed that Israeli men (78 percent) outnumber Israeli women (57 percent) in the use of credit cards for online shopping. Among the age categories, the study has discovered that 77 percent of Israelis aged between 18-29 use their credit cards for online purchases compared with 70 percent of those aged 30-49, and 59 percent of Israelis over 50.
