GoCoin raises USD 0.55 mln to expand its operations

Bitcoin payment processor GoCoin has raised USD 0.55 mln in venture capital to process Bitcoin payments in Asia and South America.

The company’s payments platform is currently in a private beta with a small group of merchants, helping out the processing on its platform with bitcoin payments to start out with. Its strategy is to operate in markets outside of the US, focusing on merchants in Asia and South America. E-commerce, online content and gaming are areas that will be a primary focus for the company.

Bitcoin is a descentralised digital currency and payment network. The currency is controlled by cryptography rather than by any corporation or central bank. Created as an open-source software project, Bitcoin enables users to transfer funds instantly to any other Bitcoin account holder in the world.

GoCoin’s headquarters are in Singapore and it has also an office in Santa Monica, California.
