GlobalCollect, a Netherlands-based e-payment services provider for international customer-not-present (CNP) channels, has expanded its presence in Latin America by opening an office in Buenos Aires.

The companys interface platform WebCollect is able to process transactions in Spanish and Portuguese. Via this platform, the company provides access to a portfolio of local and international payment methods in over 200 countries, including all major credit and debit cards, direct debits, bank transfers, real-time bank transfers, eWallets, cash at outlets, prepaid methods, checks, and invoices.

GlobalCollect currently collaborates with Latin American acquirers such as Barcode Santander in Chile, Pago Fácil in Argentina and Boleto Bancário in Brazil.

In 2010, e-commerce in Latin America is expected to reach USD 30 billion in turnover. According to statistics released by the World Bank, only 30 percent of Latin American adults have a bank account, as compared to 91 percent in the US, which is an indication of the importance in offering alternative payment methods for online merchants.
