Dwolla stops backing up Bitcoin processing

US-based online payment system provider Dwolla has stopped working with virtual currency exchanges and other Bitcoin-related services.

Dwolla has informed its customers that it is withdrawing its services as of the end of October From 10th October only existing Dwolla users will be able to send funds to the businesses in question, while on 15th October, those bitcoin businesses will no longer be able to receive money through Dwolla and will only be able to send it, until the end of October, when these business accounts will be fully suspended.

Bitcoin is a descentralized digital currency and payment network. The currency is controlled by cryptography rather than by any corporation or central bank. Created as an open-source software project, Bitcoin enables users to transfer funds instantly to any other Bitcoin account holder in the world.

Dwolla provides a platform which allows users to send, receive and request funds from any other user. Transactions can be conducted through email, mobile devices and even social media.

In recent news, 3dcart, a web-based e-commerce hosting solution, is set to integrate Dwolla’s payment network into its online shopping cart platform.
