Mashreq Bank, Prolexic partner for DDoS protection services

Prolexic, a provider of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection services, has entered an agreement with UAE-based financial services provider Mashreq Bank, to provide the latter with DDoS detection and DDoS protection services.

As a result, the bank will be able to protect its clients against DDoS attacks using Prolexic’s cloud-based mitigation platform.

According to the Prolexic Global Attack Report, compiled by the Prolexic Security and Engineering Response Team, financial services websites have by severely affected by DDoS attacks in Q1 2012. Also, during Q4 2011, more than 168 trillion bits of data and 14 billion packets of malicious traffic have been identified as targeting financial services clients.

Since its inception in 1967, Mashreq Bank has been providing banking and financial services to numerous customers and businesses in the region, including Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain as well as worldwide via representative offices. In recent news, Mashreq Bank has made available a mobile banking application for Google Android devices, online media outlet zawya.com reported.

US-based DDoS mitigation provider Prolexic has offices across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
