Money transfer service provider Western Union teams up with Malayan commercial financial institution CIMB Bank to launchan Internet banking money transfer service in the Asia-Pacific region. As a result, CIMB Bank is to integrate the Western Union Money Transfer function into its online banking platform, in a bid to increase international cash transfer volumes in the area.

Via its partnership with CIMB, Western Union seeks to expand its distribution channels and tap into new service areas, targeting its services at busy individuals who wish to have an integrated money transfer function as part of their online banking platform for overseas money remittance which does not involve a visit to an actual bank branch.

The new service thus enables CIMB online banking users to send funds online, funds which can subsequently be accessed at any Western Union agent location in over 200 countries and territories around the world.
