VimpelCom teams with Jet Infosystems to launch m-payments platform

Russian mobile operator VimpelCom teams with system integrator in Russia and CIS Jet Infosystems to develop and implement its new mobile payments system Beepay XP. The new payment processing system Beepay XP was developed on the Kabira Transaction Platform (KTP) at Vimpelcom and it is operating under the Beeline brand. The platform was created by American software vendor Kabira Technologies.

Beepay XP has a transaction throughput and availability of the 64-bit memory-resident Kabira Transaction Platform to support several hundred of business transactions per second. Since January 2008, all payments for VimpelCom services are processed via the new payment system Beepay XP. The system processes more than 6 million transactions per day. Since 2001, VimpelCom has operated its Beepay system developed in-house by its own IT specialists for processing subscriber payments. The new Beepay XP platform supports payments through different channels (cash, ATM, credit cards, mobile device), cards management, a significant number of partner payment points, and multiple charging systems.A contract for the development and implementation of the new payment processing system was signed at the end of 2005. The first transaction trough the new Beepay XP system took place on 1 April 2006 using a mobile communication unified payment card.
