US-based electronic payment services provider VeriFone Systems and technology company Lenovo have launched the ThinkPad Mobile POS, a mobile point of sale (POS) platform for retail outlets.

The ThinkPad Mobile POS is built on the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet and a custom version of VeriFones PAYware Mobile Enterprise for tablet payment services.

Retailers can remotely manage the ThinkPad Mobile POS, including individual device tracking, managing applications, checking status on individual units and remotely wiping and resetting devices.

The ThinkPad Mobile POS accepts payments including EMV (EuroPay, MasterCard and Visa), NFC, debit and gift cards, electronic coupons, loyalty programs and promotions.

In recent news, VeriFone Systems has acquired certification for its EMV/NFC-enabled merchant payment processing service from Vantiv, a provider of payment strategies and technology for financial institutions and businesses worldwide.
