TransferTo inks deals for international airtime transfer app

Singapore-based global mobile airtime transfer company TransferTo, an Ingenico company, has launched an international airtime transfer application for Apple iPhone and iPad users, as well as for Google Android- powered smartphones. Ingenico is a French-based provider of payment services.

The newly-launched app is set to enable mobile users to transfer airtime to customers of over 185 mobile operators in over 70 countries. The app has been developed by DonRiver, a mobile payments consulting and application development company.

In Tanzania, TransferTo has partnered with Zantel, part of Etisalat, a global telecommunications company, for the launch of Zantel’s international airtime transfer service enabling Tanzanians living abroad to send Zantel prepaid top-ups to their relatives back home. In Zimbabwe, TransferTo has partnered with Telecel Zimbabwe, a mobile phone network, enabling Zimbabwean emigrants to transfer prepaid top-ups to their relatives back home.

TransferTo operates a global airtime remittance network interconnecting mobile operators prepaid users.

In recent news, Ingenico has extended its partnership with Indonesian financial services company Bank Mandiri to provide the latter with an additional 40.000 units of EFT930G payment terminals in 2011 and early 2012.
