Stevens Institute of Technology implements electronic bill payment system

Tuesday 10 March 2009 09:47 CET | News

US technological university Stevens Institute of Technology has teamed up with payment automation services provider for colleges and universities TouchNet to deploy an electronic billing system.

The online bill payment system is set to allow students to either pay their tuition fees themselves or allow their parents to access the information needed to make payments and impose restrictions so as not to disclose their full transaction history or account balance information. Under the new system, the university can accept online electronic check payments with no additional fees, as well as credit and debit card payments, which are to be charged a convenience fee. Cash and cheque payments will be accepted in parallel for students who do not have access to electronic payment facilities.

The Institute’s new electronic bill payment system will not accept Visa credit card payments due to the flat fee charged by Visa credit issuing financial services providers.
