SCM Microsystems has signed an agreement with TransTech Systems to distribute its smart card readers, biometric readers and physical access control terminals.

Under the agreement, TransTech will market and sell SCMs secure access products both separately and as part of bundled solutions for logical access, physical access, badging and ID applications. SCMs line up of secure access products includes contact, contactless, PINpad, biometric and mobile smart card readers for PC, network and physical access. A worldwide leader in smart card readers for government, banking and the enterprise, in the U.S. SCM has supplied more than 1.5 million readers for the Department of Defenses Common Access Card program. The company has recently launched a family of physical access control terminals that are positioned to work with biometrics and the new class of smart IDs for both the government and private sectors. SCMs physical access terminals are modular so customers can mix and match features and technologies as they evolve their physical access control systems. SCM primarily sells its products through OEMs and large systems integrators. The agreement with TransTech Systems will help extend SCMs products into additional channels through TransTechs large dealer base focusing on healthcare, badging, and personal identification.
