Users of Internet banking offered by 20 commercial and policy banks numbered 24.27 million at the end of 2004, up 6.7 per cent from a year ago. South Korea is the worlds most wired country, with nearly two-thirds of its homes having broadband Internet access. Of the total Internet banking users, companies amounted to 1.18 million, up 17.5 per cent from the previous year. Internet banking transactions reached a daily average of 8.99 million last year, up 24.6 per cent from a year earlier. In particular, the use of mobile banking shot up 145 per cent to 6.28 million in December from a year ago.
