Royal Bank of Canada to implement voice biometrics technology

Tuesday 6 October 2015 11:46 CET | News

Royal Bank of Canada has revealed plans to roll out voice biometrics technology that can identify clients who phone the bank’s call centres in a matter of seconds.

Customers will have the option to apply for the service, which is being phased in over a three-month period and has been created by tech company Nuance Communications.

In addition to speeding up the customer service process proponents of the technology say it may also boost security.

In recent news, Canada-based financial institutions Manulife has introduced a voice biometrics option for customers, to skip the step of providing a password.
