Japanese online marketplace Rakuten has launched an online store in Singapore.

The Singapore web site sells a variety of items, ranging from clothing to electronics to books. Shoppers in the country are also eligible for the Rakuten Super Points program, where they can earn redeemable loyalty points with each purchase.

Rakuten launched its pioneering Japanese e-commerce platform, Rakuten Ichiba, in 1997. Since then, the company offers a business to business to consumer (B2B2C) model, enabling merchants to build online storefronts on the marketplace and sell directly to consumers. Currently, Rakuten offers e-commerce and internet services in over 25 countries and territories.

In recent news, Rakuten has launched an online marketplace in Spain.
