Phaos Technology has licensed the Phaos S/MIME toolkit to LANSA, a Downers Grove, Illinois-based global software company that helps customers enhance their business performance through the use of leading-edge technologies, services and solutions.

The Phaos S/MIME toolkit is being used as an embedded part of LANSA AS2 Direct, a solution that provides a quick and secure way to exchange encrypted business documents. Software that is AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) capable at the senders location establishes a connection over the Internet to the receivers AS2 software and transmits secured documents. The receivers system then generates and returns a receipt to the sender ensuring delivery has been made without incident. The AS2 specification supports traditional EDI documents or any other data transmittals (such as XML or flat files) using HTTP/S. This solution is critical to organizations that need to exchange confidential documents securely. The fastest way to send a document is to deliver it directly to the recipient with no intermediate routing or mailboxing which is exactly what the AS2 standard specifies.
