Oversight launches transaction monitoring service for purchase-card programs

Monday 30 June 2008 14:26 CET | News

Oversight, US provider of automated transaction monitoring software, reveals that its transaction monitoring application is now in use at Fortune 500 companies and government agencies as a service for preventing fraud and misuse in corporate purchase-card (p-card) programs.

The system acts like an automated virtual auditor and fraud examiner, analysing and correlating information from multiple data sources that might exist on multiple application platforms including SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards, Infinium, MFG Pro, or a custom system, to alert companies about exceptions that need further review. According to a survey sponsored by Oversight, 77 percent of respondents cite policy adherence as a primary challenge in monitoring p-card use to prevent fraud. Oversight says p-card providers do offer services designed to prevent violations, but they only look at the p-card transactions data source. The company concludes that without visibility into the organisation’s overall financial systems data, p-card providers cannot identify potential policy violations.
