Monitise joint venture goes live with mobile payments platform in Indonesia

The joint venture between mobile financial technology company Monitise Asia Pacific and Indonesian document and ICT services provider PT Astra Graphia Tbk dubbed PT AGIT Monitise Indonesia has completed the installation of a data centre in Jakarta to provide mobile banking, payments and commerce services to banked and unbanked customers.

The platform is set to allow banks, mobile operators, retailers and other service providers to connect via an interoperable network and deliver mobile services to both banked and unbanked customers. Astra Graphia provides both data centre services and local management support for the venture.

The first service is set to go live on the Indonesian platform mid-2012 and it will be launched in collaboration with Indonesian financial institution Permata Bank.

Monitise Asia Pacific is a joint venture between Monitise and First Eastern Mobile Investments created in 2010 to develop mobile banking, payment and commerce services in the Asia Pacific region.

PT Astra Graphia Tbk (ASGR) through its subsidiary, PT Astra Graphia Information Technology (AGIT) entered into a joint venture agreement with Monitise Asia Pacific in July 2011.
