iZettle launches API to integrate payments into apps

Friday 15 June 2012 15:01 CET | News

Swedish social payments start-up iZettle has launched an API that allows third-party iOS app makers to integrate the iZettle payment service directly into their apps, online media outlet techcrunch.com reports.

According to the source, in order to use the new iZettle API, developers need to incorporate code that links up with a custom URL scheme, which allows users to initiate requests for payments from the iOS app for the iPhone the or iPad. The user is then redirected to a new iZettle window and then automatically returned to the original app.

iZettle’s services are compliant with EMV (Europay, MasterCard and VISA) standards as well as with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). No sensitive data is stored on the mobile device or iZettle reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.
