EBay activates WorldofGood online shop for socially responsible shoppers

Wednesday 3 September 2008 14:13 CET | News

EBay has launched an e-commerce marketplace called WorldofGood.com which offers ethically sourced and eco-friendly products. The initiative is the result of a partnership between eBay and World of Good, an organisation that brings handcrafted products from cooperatives, NGOs and nonprofits in developing countries to the US market.

WorldofGood.com customers can purchase eco-positive items from 15 categories including home and garden, art, jewellery, clothing and food. Via the online shop, buyers can purchase fair trade coffee, accessories and home décor items made from recycled materials, organic clothing and animal-friendly beauty products. All WorldofGood products, producers and sellers are verified by third parties, including TransFair USA, Co-op America and Aid to Artisans to establish whether they meet requirements according to ethical and environmental standards. EBay has made WorldofGood listings available on its website.
