Digital River, is expanding its downloadable product catalog beyond software titles to include a new e-books category.

Digital Rivers move to add e-books to its digital catalog is part of the companys ongoing strategy to expand its downloadable library and online Sales Network and ultimately create added value for its clients through new revenue generating opportunities. The first e-books that will be available through Digital Rivers downloadable catalog include how to technology reference books, geared for the average consumer. Digital River intends to launch its catalog with several hundred e-book titles, with plans to add more e-books in the near future. To help protect the license rights of its e-books publishers and provide them sophisticated marketing capabilities, Digital River is wrapping e-books delivered through its Sales Network with its SoftwarePassport(TM) technology, a digital rights management solution. SoftwarePassport is designed to help publishers not only protect their software, but also market, sell, distribute and track their digital assets across untapped, global online markets.
