Datacard Group Introduces Versatile New Card Printer with Retransfer Print Technology

Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, introduced the Datacard(R) RP90 card printer at the CardTech/SecurTech Conference and Exhibition.

This versatile retransfer printer allows government agencies to print on highly secure non-PVC card surfaces, including contact and contactless smart cards. The demand for quality, high-security printing on a wide range of card surfaces is increasing as government agencies look to produce more versatile, highly durable identification cards, said Mike Schnaus, vice president of marketing and corporate development for Datacard Group. Unlike conventional card printers, the RP90 card printer is ideally suited to print on irregular card surfaces, he said. The RP90 card printer prints directly on retransfer film that is then adhered to the card surface, producing high quality, edge-to-edge photo ID cards in less than 30 seconds. This technology allows for consistent printing and helps ensure adhesion in areas containing smart card chips and proximity card elements.
