Thursday 6 August 2009 10:11 CET | News

According to a survey, the average amount to be spent on the internet by Canadian online buyers before Labour Day is expected to reach USD 600.

Of the 48 percent of respondents who have expressed their intention to make purchases on the internet before the first Monday of September, one-third have made plans to spend more online than in the corresponding period of 2008. Better prices and convenience are among the main reasons why interviewees choose to buy products and items online, with 40 percent and 35 percent of those involved in the survey citing these factors.

The same source indicates that one in six will look for back-to-school items on the online channel, spending USD 318 on average. These products include books (25 percent), computers (22 percent), backpacks (10 percent) and other supplies, while 40 percent mentioned clothing and shoes.

The study was commissioned by Visa Canada.
