Canadian fashion apparel retailer YM, has awarded NCR a contract to provide a point-of-sale (POS) solution for the chains 240 stores. The agreement includes POS hardware, networking and installation services. Rollouts began in January and are scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2004. The solution includes NCR RealPOS 80 terminals and NCR RealScan bar-code scanners, as well as NCR printers, displays and other peripherals. NCR is the single point of contact for on-site installation and maintenance of the NCR POS solution and YMs Cisco networking equipment. Using a virtual private network implemented and monitored by NCR, YMs head-office staff can quickly and easily communicate directly with any store in the chain. This secure high-speed network also allows for faster processing of credit transactions. Other NCR services include cabling and project management. Running on the NCR RealPOS 80 is POS application software from Datavantage.
