BSI2000 Announces New Products for National ID Card Markets in Europe and the Middle East

Thursday 22 January 2004 19:33 CET | News

BSI2000 is introducing two new products - Hybrid 2000 and SIGABA 2000/Arabia. Hybrid 2000 is a small electromechanical add-on device with an embedded microcontroller that enables standard optical drive units to also access smart card chips for hybrid optical/chip card projects.

Several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Italy, have announced national ID card systems that will use optical stripes combined with smart card chips in a hybrid card configuration. BSI2000 believes that Hybrid 2000 is the first product available that enables a terminal device to access both components of hybrid cards in a single secure operation. SIGABA 2000/Arabia represents the culmination of a long effort by BSI2000 to completely localize the standard SIGABA 2000 secure identification verification system to the Arab language and culture.
