The system scans and processes renewals from customers who do not auto-renew their licences by direct debit but instead post a form with a cheque. The BancTec system enables Capita to process licences within five working days as it has the functionality to pre-process cheques. The new system is also linked into the main database to avoid manual re-keying of data. Installed at offices in Bristol, the BancTec system has supported the administering of licences since Capita won the contract in July 2002.
